How should I introduce my main characters?

I'm writing a narrative about *gasp* vampires. It's overused, but it's what came to mind. I've started writing already, but I'm not sure how I want my main characters to meet. I have two main ideas, one being they have that cliche most-beautiful-person-I've-ever-seen-and… and start chatting, subliminally flirting, and overall just like each other. Lame. My other idea is they bump into each other, the guy says something nice and the girl's breath is just taken away by his inhuman beauty and then he's kind of a jerk and they piss each other off, but later it's revealed it was because the girl has some special "thing" and he was trying to keep himself away from her so she wouldn't get hurt. Can you say cliche? I can. Either way, I'm sure all my plot ideas suck but at least I have the excuse of it being my first piece of writing. If you agree, which I'm sure you do, can you prompt any ideas for the unconventional relationship?
